Earl Lovelace is an amazing story teller, and Salt is no exception to the rule.  Lovelace uses the cultural and political influence of the Carribean Island of Trinidad to influence the stories within this amazing novel.  The main theme of this novel focuses on stories of people that are effected by the changes happening in Trinidad at the time.  As the stories progress, the people in Trinidad begin to form theirselves to the changing culture of their country.
